What does pakasha mean?
Literally it means side, period, or party in Hindi, and can be used to ask a person which party they side with politically or religiously. Also it means the two weeks in the month of a Hindu lunar calendar where each month is divided into two pakashas. One is a Full Moon Day and the second pakasha is Krishna-pakasha, or "time of the fading moon." In many commonwealth countries these are the time periods in which they are paid.
