The 1920s electric car also had a very limited range, and required a lengthy recharge of some very expensive batteries. In many parts of the US, there WAS no electrical service, especially in rural areas. Regarding the environment, 1920s batteries required the mining and smelting of lead, and the manufacture of sulfuric acid- not noted to be environmentally friendly. This was not a concern in 1920.
