How was renaissance art different from art of medieval times?
Here are two important differences with examples:
Sculpture became more naturalistic. For example, sculpture by Michelangelo had people in more relaxed poses instead of the stiff, straight figures in medieval sculpture. This was a rebirth of the classical sculpture style of ancient Greece.
In painting, Leonardo Da Vinci discovered a way to use perspective with a single point on the horizon line. A good example of this is his Last Supper. This was an important advance, because medieval artists did not have this understanding of perspective.
