Question

i am scheduled to work 10 days in a row, though 5 are in each calander week sun&mon;in one week, and fri&sat;in the next). is it legal for my employer to do this?

Answer

IL law provides for one day of rest in every seven days so this appears to violate that law.

Answer

I want to revise my answer and apologize for what I think was an incorrect answer. Purusant to 820 ILCS 140/2, Sec. 2 "Every employer shall allow every employee . . . at least twenty-four consecutive hours of rest in every calendar week in addition to the regular period of rest allowed at the close of each working day." I think because they are satisfying the calendar week requirement, their practice is likely lawful.
