Question

In criminal court, a judgement was entered for a non-party to the criminal complaint for $3500. The party who is to receive the money is a private corporation having nothing to do with an alleged theft of $400. The judge entered a judgement in favor of this private corporation - makes no sense at all because the corporation was not involved. Each month this corporation is paid until the $3500 is reached. The private company refuses to provide a receipt for paymtn. Fortunately, the central processing unit is providing an account of payment. Is there recourse to sue this company at a later date for a refund of the funds paid?

Answer

Restitution is ordered by the court in criminal matters. It is paid to the person or entity who suffered a loss because of the crime.
