Is there a law that states a landlord only has a certain amount of time to fix items in a house? Also is there a law about the condition of carpet in your house and its lifetime?
Answer
Yes, depending upon how the "need to be fixed items" affect your habilitibility of the premises. Certain items like safety issues, water issues and structural issues need to be addressed quickly. Other more cosmetic issues can be delayed and/or at the discretion of the landlord. The first place to start is with your local housing board...and then perhaps an attorney would need to be involved.
