Can child support be increased retroactively after child turns 18?

Question

Can child support be increased retroactively after child turns 18?

Answer

That's an attempt at a trick question. Child support does not necessarily terminate at 18, which is what you imply. Child support modifications are retroactive to the date of the motion or request for order requesting the modification. If the 18 year old is still a full-time high school student and still lives with a parent, child support ends when that child graduates or turns 19, whichever occurs first.
