Question

My husband died in December. Now his father has died. Can I expect to inherit my husband's part of his father's estate?

Answer

The answer may depend upon the wording of his father's will.

Answer

Not necessarily. It depends upon his father's Will.

If your father-in-law did not have a will, you do not automatically stand to inherit your husband's share because he did not survive his father. It is possible that instead it will go to your children.

Answer

Did he leave a will. Depending on how the will was prepared will depend on whether or not you are entitled. Most wills do not carry forward on the beneficiary if they have predeceased them.
